Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) believe that we all have a responsibility to take care of our planet, and we support Size of Wales to do our bit for global conservation. The project we have adopted is the Mangabe Forest Project in Madagascar which is being run by a local charity Madagasikara Voakajy. The project protects the rare golden mantella frog and helps local communities to manage the forest, on which they depend for resources, sustainably.
CCW staff and friends are took part in a sponsored cycle ride across Wales from Aberystwyth to Shrewsbury, a distance of 113 miles, to raise money to support this project. The ride took place on 12 and 13 November – and it didn’t rain!
We are aiming to raise as much money as possible, especially as Size of Wales partners are offering to match donations. This means every £5 you sponsor us, the communities and forests of Mangabe benefit from £10.
You can still sponsor our efforts by visiting the My Donate page we have setup by clicking here. All contributions will be greatly appreciated. The cyclists paid 100% of their own costs so all your money will go to developing a sustainable livelihood for the people of Mangabe and protecting the rich biodiversity of the forests.
Thank you in advance.
The cyclists.
